Questions for Congressman Allen Boyd
The following was submitted to Congressman Boyd via his webpage on house.gov on 9/29/08. If I get a response, I will publish it as well.

Congressman Boyd -
This is the first time I have ever written my representative. Unfortunately, you are probably hearing from many first timers today like me. In looking at your house.gov page I am deeply disturbed with some of the content. For one you say that “…the current Administration’s reckless fiscal policies over the last eight years would not go unanswered, and the volatility in the market is the result.” Please provide me with three examples of the current administration’s fiscal policies which you view as reckless and please explain why they are reckless. Please also provide me facts on what you did to stop the recklessness. If you could have set the policies yourself, what would they have been?
I understand politics and realize that people have different views on how to get a job accomplished, but to unfairly scapegoat the Bush administration is simply inaccurate. I realize he is a lame duck and that is the popular position to take, but we got into this mess not because of George Bush but because of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Our president may have not always done the right thing but one thing is for certain, there is record of the administration calling for reform of the two GSEs on multiple occasions. Please provide me with an example where you or any of your colleagues, particularly Mr. Barney Frank, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, ever proposed reform which may have prevented this meltdown. Did Republicans block it? As you know there is a YouTube video which seriously incriminates the Democrat party in preventing the actual reform that was needed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs). Is there any evidence which speaks otherwise?
For the record, I am a registered Republican who tends to not always vote the party line as I voted for Mackay then Jeb Bush, Clinton then George Bush. I also voted for you but may be voting for Mulligan in November. Just like there was a housecleaning two years ago, there may be another “House” cleaning in November if things do not straighten up, only it may be the Democrats on their way out this time. If I seem direct, please forgive me. I and countless others are not sitting by the sidelines any longer and we are looking for answers, facts, and accountability. Unfortunately you are up for re-election. I look forward to hearing from you or one of your staff members soon. Sphere: Related Content
